Kindle Vella Is Helping Me as a Writer
It might even prove to be good for you too, you won’t know until you try.
I wasn’t in the groups of people diving into Kindle Vella when it launched. I honestly didn’t even know it existed until recently because I completely missed all of the pre-launch emails to writers. Silly me.
When I did learn about it I was skeptical of the notion, probably like a lot of people are, or were. Why would I release my stories one chapter at a time? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a book?
However I kept reading articles about it here on Medium where I also learned about RadishFiction. I went on to learn that many writers are also utilizing Patreon to release their stories in small installments. Success is not guaranteed on any of these platforms, it’s just like any industry or niche: You either make it or you don’t, with any expanse of hard work put in.
Serialized fiction is creating its own space in our literary world and I personally think it’s here to stay, and grow. The proof is in the pudding with RadishFiction being my first measuring point. A breakdown of their demographics shows that it’s especially popular with the younger generation, which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense.
